• Necton Election March 20th

    The community centre will be a Polling Station on Thursday 20th March 2025 to allow residents of Necton to choose between the two candidates standing for the vacancy on the Parish Council.

    The candidates are Malcolm Barnes and Chris Bierton

    You will be able to cast your vote between the hours of 7.00am and 10.00pm . As with all elections you will need to bring suitable ID with you. The polling station will be in the meeting room ( on the right as you enter the community centre)

    POLLING CARDS ARE NOT BEING SENT TO RESIDENTS AS YOU DO NOT NEED TO BRING ONE WITH YOU TO ENABLE YOU TO VOTE- PLEASE ENSURE YOU BRING IDENTIFICATION.

    1. Forms of nomination for the Parish Election may be obtained from Clerk to the Parish Council or BRECKLAND COUNCIL, ELIZABETH HOUSE, WALPOLE LOKE, DEREHAM, NORFOLK, NR19 1EE from the Returning Officer who will, at the request of an elector for any electoral area prepare a nomination paper for signature.
    2. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, BRECKLAND COUNCIL, ELIZABETH HOUSE, WALPOLE LOKE, DEREHAM, NORFOLK, NR19 1EE on any day after the date of this notice but no later than 4 pm on Friday, 21st February 2025.
    3. If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 20th March 2025.
    4. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday 4 March 2025. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
    5. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at ELIZABETH HOUSE, WALPOLE LOKE, DEREHAM, NORFOLK, NR19 1EE by 5 pm on Thursday, 20th March 2025. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5 pm on Wednesday, 12th March 2025.  To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5 pm on Wednesday, 12th March 2025

    This is an informal meeting where you can hear and see what we achieved in the last year and a chance to meet your Councillors and ask questions or just have a chat and introduce yourselves.

    • Whose residence is in Necton or within three miles of Necton, or
    • Whose principal place of work is in Necton, and
    • Who is not disqualified (by reason of a criminal record, bankruptcy or involvement in corrupt practices).

    VILLAGE CARETAKER

     

    A part time role position has become available offering 10- 12 hours per week (working days are flexible but Mondays are required).

    DUTIES: (including but not limited to)

    Inspect the play equipment:

    • Check play equipment is sound and report any defects
    • Attend a course on maintaining play equipment and Health & Safety
    • Carry out a weekly visual inspection
    • Undertake weekly fire alarms checks and similar checks in the hall
    • Carry out small repairs to the village hall and other Parish Council property in Necton
    • Pick up litter and empty bins according to the schedule
    • Weed garden at entrance to the village.
    • Move the SAM II (speed monitor) around the village according to schedule
